I’m Very Nearly Awesome: The Knight Who Nearly

So much has changed in the last few years! I was looking through old Blog Post Drafts, and I found this gem about how I very nearly was awesome in 2013. Three years later, I’m in my second year of teaching printmaking fulltime and have a wonderful little boy. I feel like now Blake has taken on this role/feeling of The Knight Who Nearly, however, and I hope I can help him achieve all of his dreams in the next few years, too!

The Old Post Draft from November 18th 2013

Any Monty Python fans out there? Well, these past few months (and I dread to think on how many months I’m conveniently lumping into “few” for my own sanity) I’ve felt a lot like Brave-Brave-Brave-Brave Sir Robin from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975.)

Yes, I feel that I have been channeling Sir Robin, AKA Sir Not-Quite-so-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, this past year or two. For your notes, I am here referring to the rather lovely beginning of the movie, seen below:

NARRATOR: The wise Sir Bedemir was the first to join King Arthur’s
knights, but other illustrious names were soon to follow:
Sir Launcelot the Brave; Sir Galahad the Pure; and Sir Robin the
Not-quite-so-brave-as-Sir-Launcelot who had nearly fought the Dragon
of Agnor, who had nearly stood up to the vicious Chicken of Bristol
and who had personally wet himself at the Battle of Badon Hill; and
the aptly named Sir Not-appearing-in-this-film. Together they formed
a band whose names and deeds were to be retold throughout the centuries,
the Knights of the Round Table.

In my own quests to, you know, live life happily, I very nearly:
…became a graphic designer at Mardigrasoutlet.com…
…taught printmaking at Murray State University….
…got courses at Owen’s Community College…
…taught printmaking at Bowling Green State University…
…got jobs at 3 other universities around the country that I interviewed at…
…moved to the United Arab Emirates to teach art foundations full-time and pay off my student loans…
