Wedding as Performance

While we are, of course, sincere about our nuptials, we are in some sense treating our union as a performance art event. We have been brainstorming various ways to incorporate the field of printmaking into our wedding ceremony as well as activities on the eve of the "Blessed Unions" Exhibition Reception.

So far we have considering having readings from the infamous The Complete Printmaker by John Ross, letterpress printing programs as guests walk in, and Printmaking Professor John Swindler of the University of Georgia had the excellent idea of silkscreening tuxedo t-shirts to sell at the door. Our most happy achievement is printmaking Professor John Hancock of Mary Hardin-Baylor University and The Amazing Hancock Brothers agreeing to conduct the wedding ceremony!

Needless to say, we are continuing to formulate plans. It'll surely be a weekend to remember!

Official Blessed Unions Wedding Performance Blurb

Printmakers Blake Sanders and Hannah March Campbell will present a wedding performance ceremony, taking vows to each other and to the printmaking lifestyle. The duo will be adorned in printed regalia, hand crafted by the artists specially for the event. The ceremony will be officiated by printmaker Reverend John S. Hancock. Hancock, along with his brother, is just one of the many dynamic duos represented in the Blessed Unions Exhibition. Other participants include Slop Art, Anita Jung & Tom Christison, Nicole Hand & Jim Bryant, Hot Iron Press, Katerine & Andy Polk, and many more. Interactive print-themed activities will also be presented including live readings, letterpress give-aways, dance party, wearable art, and other surprises.
