After having a baby in December 2014, I was having a difficult time creating artwork, or even drawing. As sketchbooking has always been so integral to my work and life, this was incredibly frustrating for me. Besides classroom demonstrations for teaching, this sketchbook contained the first real work I was able to create after baby Levee’s birth. I was mad at first that I’d committed myself to this project. Many pages contain several layers of failed drawings gessoed over and re-worked. But, ultimately, this Sketchbook Project helped me to re-learn how to draw.

Spring of 2015, I participated in The Sketchbook Project, filling a sketchbook for the crowd-sourced library that features over 30,000 artist books. The Sketchbook Project is housed in the Brooklyn Art Library in NY, but travels around the country, and many of its volumes are available online in a searchable database.
